INSTALLATION:
The AAV can be installed horizontally or vertically.

OPERATION:
The operating principle behind the AUTOMATIC AIR VALVE is based upon the hygroscopic discs inside the valve changing between their wet and dry mode.

The air can also be duscharged by manually rotating the plastic handwheel by two turns. While in MANUAL mode, the built-in check valve remains open and fluid will escape to the atmosphere. After use in this mode, the handwheel should be closed down to return it to AUTOMATIC mode.

LABORATORY DATA

VENTING CAPACITY:
Diagram shows the hygroplug venting capacity. The valves stated refer to laboratory tests carried out with hygroscopic discs quite dry.
DRYING TIME IN HOURS:
Diagram 2 shows the required drying time for the hygroscopic elements to pass from the wet to the dry state.

This time changes according to water temperature, in fact, when the temperature is low the drying time is considerable longer, and vice versa. Therefore the use of this kind of valve is not advisable in installations of floor-heating and cooling systems, where the working water temperature is lower than 105 degrees Fahrenheit. These installations require air purge devices not dependent on fluid temperature (i.e. Floatvent air-vent valve).

WARNINGS:

  • Operator care (with special consideration of the fluid) should be taken so as not to spill caustic or hot fluids on the operator.
  • Certain caustic fluids can damage the valve venting capacity (if concentration is high - 5 mg/L: i.e. caustic soda, triphosphate sodium, etc.).
